What You Must Know About The Power of Your Yogic Thoughts

The true path of yoga never separates mind, body, and spirit, but always treats them as a unified whole. Your positive thoughts have the power to create lasting change.

When you can let go of old self-limiting thought patterns, you empower yourself to be the change you wish to see. By confronting challenges with awareness and self-love, you build self-confidence and a sense of self-worth, creating space for positivity and peace in your life.

Our mental mindstate has such a large influence on the physical body, which is why it is so important to be aware of the thoughts we are having. Like beacons, we send our thoughts out into the Universe where they continue to manifest long after they started, creating a lasting impact on our lives.

Critical, judgmental thoughts do not support growth or healing—so just let them go!

It can and should be as simple as that. Allow the negative thoughts to slip away, creating space and inviting positive thoughts to replace them. This is one of the main reasons we set an intention at the beginning of class. Coming back to the intention throughout our practice gives us something to focus our concentration on—something positive that motivates and inspires us.

The regular practice of yoga teaches us the value of recognizing and accepting our current situation, whatever it may be. Regardless of whether we think it is good or bad, the point is to avoid labeling it as “good” vs. “bad” and simply accepting it. This acceptance is really just being present—when we are present we tune into ourselves completely, which is how we become self-aware. Through this closer relationship with ourselves as we are in this current moment, overcoming the need to judge or fear, we can make peace with the present.

Be mindful not to rush or force the poses during your practice. Build your confidence over time. Know that the beginning is the end—your practice starts and ends today, in this moment. Practicing in this mindstate alleviates the need to strive for something better. Stay rooted in your present practice and trust that you are always growing.

You are precisely where you need to be in this moment. Trust, remain open, and think positive!
