As the temperatures rise, so do cravings for sweet frozen treats! Popsicles are a summer favorite for kids and adults alike, but many of the colorful pops that line supermarket aisles are filled with artificial colors, refined sugars and contain little to no real fruit.
These 4 recipes use natural sweeteners, fresh fruit and are all dairy free.
Pick up a popsicle mold and some popsicle sticks, and start making them at home! These 4 recipes use natural sweeteners, fresh fruit and are all dairy free. Best of all, they are even healthy enough to enjoy after a hot yoga class or an outdoor run in the summer sun.
These 4 recipes use natural sweeteners, fresh fruit and are all dairy free.
Here are 4 healthy popsicle recipes that will help you beat the heat:
Chocolate Almond Butter Banana
All the best things in life are combined into one dairy-free frozen treat that rivals fudgesicles. Dip the finished popsicle in chocolate and crushed almond, or enjoy plain.
Ingredients: (Makes 6)
2 bananas
1 tbsp raw honey or maple syrup
2 tbsp almond butter
2 tbsp cocoa powder or raw cacao powder
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
Optional:
6 oz dark chocolate
1 tbsp coconut oil
½ cup of crushed raw almonds
Add all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Next, pour the mixture into the popsicle molds and add popsicle sticks. Freeze for 4-6 hours.
Optional: Before serving, melt chocolate and coconut oil. Drizzle over popsicles and top with crushed almonds.
We recommend using a Vitamix food processor for all your blending needs.
Mango Coconut Cream Pops
Enjoy the tropical flavors of creamy coconut, sweet mango and zesty lime. This combo is perfect for a festive summer party, or anytime you need to mentally escape to a tropical locale.
Ingredients: (Makes 6)
3 ripe mangos
2 tbsp agave nectar or raw honey
1 can light coconut milk
Juice from 1 lime
Add all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Next, pour the mixture into popsicle molds and add popsicle sticks. Freeze for 4-6 hours.
Raspberry Lemonade Popsicles
Sweet and slightly tart, these refreshing pops are perfect for scorching hot summer days. Add some fresh herbs such as mint or basil, or substitute other berries for more delicious flavor variations.
Ingredients: (Makes 6)
1/2 cup water
3/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4 lemons)
1/2 cup coconut sugar
1 cup fresh raspberries
Optional: 6-10 mint or basil leaves
Substitute or add blueberries, strawberries, etc.
First, make the simple syrup by boiling water in a small saucepan and adding coconut sugar. Stir until dissolved, and remove from heat to cool. Next, divide the raspberries and mint leaves and add to popsicle molds. Combine the coconut sugar simple syrup, fresh lemon juice and water. Stir. Pour the lemonade into the popsicle molds over the raspberries and freeze for 4-6 hours.
Green Breakfast Popsicles
Convert any dessert lover into a green smoothie lover! This popsicle idea was a happy accident when I made too much green smoothie and poured the rest in a popsicle tray. This popsicle can be an on-the-go breakfast or a refreshing healthy snack.
Ingredients: (Makes 6)
1 cup greens (spinach and baby kale are great)
2 ripe bananas
1 cup fresh or frozen mango or pineapple
1 cup almond or soy milk
2 tbsp agave, raw honey or maple syrup
Optional: 1 tbsp chia seed
Add all ingredients to a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Add chia seeds (if desired) and stir to combine, but don’t reblend. Next, pour mixture into popsicle molds and add popsicle sticks. Freeze for 4-6 hours.
Now you can chill out with these frozen snacks, knowing you aren’t sacrificing your health! Enjoy the warm weather and stay cool and hydrated.
