Why the New Barbie Should Be Your Daughter’s Role Model

The blonde-hair, blue-eyed bombshell that has been around since the 1950’s got a much-needed makeover – and she looks great! Instead of a boob lift or a little liposuction, Barbie now has a new real-world, real-woman look with big-girl career aspirations.
No longer is this iconic doll a representation of unnatural body measurements, bleached blonde hair and a mindless personality. The maker of Barbie recently introduced their Fashionistas collection with three new body shapes (tall, curvy and petite) with various eye, skin and hair colors and facial structures to represent the diversity of women’s different body shapes.
The new Barbie is an aspirational figure and role model for little girls across the world. Launched under the “You Can Do Anything” campaign, the new Barbie allows young girls to explore their potential. From doctors, scientists, veterinarians, pilots, comedians, teachers, president and other real careers, the possibilities with Barbie are only limited by each child’s imagination. What a breath of fresh air from the ditzy, airhead Barbies of our childhood!
And Barbie is also now made to move! The new Barbie Made to Move has 22 working joints, allowing children to play with their dolls like never before – with real lifelike movement. She is no longer rigid in a “I want to wear stilettos all day long” upright position. Dressed in comfy black leggings and a cute top, she is flexible and can even sit cross-legged (and maybe even take a lotus position)! Now Barbie can get her yoga on too!
The much-loved doll of our childhood got a 21st-century overhaul and is ready to serve as a role model for today’s youth. Barbie is now smart, goal-oriented and has aspirations beyond wedding Ken and taking a trip to the beach.
