Does Drinking Liquid Chlorophyll Improve Your Complexion?

“Chlorophyll? More like BOROphyll.”
Sorry, the inner movie-buff in me decided to make an appearance. Mad brownie points to anyone who knows what flick that’s from though.
But yes, you read that correctly – DRINKING liquid chlorophyll – you know, the green pigment found in plants that help it to absorb sunlight? The stuff you probably learned about in your 5th grade Science class? Yeah, that stuff. You should drink it, and I’m here to tell you why.
Chlorophyll has a big job when it comes to plants, as it’s purpose is to absorb sunlight and transfer it to the plant during its photosynthesis phase. Photosynthesis is the process plants use to convert energy from light into chemical energy, or sugar (food), which fuels the plant in it’s growing process. Through the plant development, oxygen is created, which is then breathed by animals and humans.
Just as chlorophyll provides benefits to plants, it also does the same for the human body.
Due to chlorophyll’s incredible nutritional value, sipping on liquid chlorophyll daily will lead to an advantageous effect in your overall skin health as this “super food” is packed with a range of mighty nutrients such as: Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Beta Carotene, Magnesium, Iron, Potassium, Calcium, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids, in addition to being alkaline.
Chlorophyll helps to promote healthier skin by:
- Promoting natural blood-cleansing functions
- Balancing pH levels in the body
- Strengthening the immune system
- Assisting in killing bad germs and bacteria that could otherwise cause breakouts
- Reducing inflammation, while preventing and clearing up acne
- Detoxifying your digestive tract
- Oxygenating your cells and tissue using its magnesium base
When added to water and ingested, chlorophyll runs through the body, ridding it of germs, bacteria, and even diseases, all while supporting overall bodily function and health.
Chlorophyll has a wide range of additional health benefits:
- Promotes alkalinity in the body
- Helps stabilize blood sugar levels
- Anti-inflammatory properties
- Naturally detoxifies the body
- Improves digestion and helps manage weight
- High antioxidants reduce the risk of cancer
Nature’s Sunshine has always been my preferred liquid chlorophyll brand when it comes to this liquid gold (or should I say liquid green?!), but there are numerous brands offering the same fantastic product that will become your skin’s new BFF!
Okay, so you’re interested. Except, for the fact that you’re probably imagining that this stuff tastes like dirt. And grass. And a bunch of other super “earthy” things that you’re still growing accustomed to on this journey to your healthiest self. Luckily, most brands contain peppermint oil, which gives it a very pleasant taste.
However, even without the mint flavoring, the chlorophyll itself maintains an extremely subtle, very refreshing taste.
So – are you ready to give it whirl?! If so, here’s what you do:
Add 1 teaspoon of liquid chlorophyll to 8oz of water, and drink up to twice daily. Simple as that.
Happy Sipping!
