Use These *Low-Key* Tips for a Healthy Cleanse Without the Extremes

Cleanse: a buzzword we hear often. From juice cleanses, liver cleanses, three-day cleanses – there are so many forms of cleanses out there it can be overwhelming.

How do you know which cleanse to do, and which cleanses are a safe, viable option that’s right for you? While it might be a buzzy, trending topic, there is a good deal of validity to the concept of a healthy cleanse.

The unfortunate reality is that we are constantly exposed to chemicals and man-made toxins in everything from our food, our makeup, the cars we drive, the homes we live in . . . you get the idea.

Plus we’re bombarded by the detrimental long-term effects of daily stress and toxins from our hectic lifestyles, technology, and more. It’s no surprise that cleansing or detoxing is a trending topic.

Luckily a low-key healthy cleanse can come in the form of a healthy diet that includes a particular assortment of foods.

What Exactly Does This Healthy Cleanse Constitute?

By consciously removing toxins and introducing certain foods into our diet that can help alleviate the effects of the world around us, our bodies are able to function as they’re meant to.

This type of low-key cleanse can assist in clearing up all sorts of health woes, from disease to energy deficiencies and stress levels. It can even aid in fat loss.

We all want to be our healthiest selves while minimizing the amount of toxins and chemicals in our diet and lifestyle. But you likely don’t have the time or mental capacity for a total overhaul of your entire diet.

And the truth is, radical diets and sweeping changes are often unsustainable. Even if you lose the bloat and shake five pounds off initially, no one wants to live their entire life surviving off kale salads and green juice alone.

Radical diets and sweeping changes are often unsustainable.

Luckily for all of us, Mother Nature (as she always does) provides all of the solutions we need to live our healthiest lives in the form of the foods we eat.

There’s no need for extreme measures. With just a few hacks and changes (most of which you can pick up at the grocery store), you can be living your best life by following a whole, healthy diet.

Ready to Get Your Low-Key Healthy Cleanse On? Follow These 5 Healthy Diet Tips:

Instead of going all in and changing every single thing, you can add this list of foods to your diet to aid in the detoxifying process for an overall healthy cleanse that’s low-key, manageable and not overwhelming.

1. Beet It

Beets had a massive moment as the “it” food a few years back, and for good reason. Their vibrant hue is a telltale sign that this root vegetable is teeming with vitamins like A and C as well as magnesium, iron, calcium, and zinc. For detox purposes, beets are a must.

They’re packed with antioxidants, which helps the liver remove toxins. They also literally cleanse the bloodstream, help regulate blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and soothe inflammation.

2. Spice With Cilantro

Get in the habit of sprinkling some washed and chopped cilantro onto salads and grain bowls for a ton of zesty flavor with a side of serious detoxing benefits.

Cilantro has the ability to bind to heavy metals in the body (which we can pick up from our diet, or even things like mercury fillings) and pull them from our body.

3. Make Blueberries a Staple

As if normal blueberries weren’t healthy enough, wild blueberries are the super-blue, North American variety that’s been found to provide even greater health benefits.

Ultimately though, any blueberry is great for detoxing. They pop up on every list of top foods to eat for a reason. These tiny berries are packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and anti-inflammation properties. They promote health in everything from our brain to our digestion and heart.

4. Sneak Seaweed Into Your Diet

Not just for sushi, dried seaweed counts as a serving of veggies plus some salty delicious flavor, while also boosting liver health.

Seaweed contains somewhere between 10 to 20 times more minerals than other vegetables. It also contains sodium alginate, which helps to soak up toxins and heavy metals hanging out in the digestive tract.

Try sprinkling some on top of any Asian-inspired dishes or enjoy dried seaweed sheets plain as a crunchy snack.

5. Sip Your Way to Detoxified

It stands to reason that if about 70 percent of our bodies are made of water, we should make sure we’re drinking plenty of it to keep us flushed out and performing as we’re meant to.

Try starting your day with a tall glass of lemon water specifically. This helps to rehydrate you upon waking. (We all naturally wake up a little dehydrated from the night.)

The lemon promotes digestion and helps the body to flush out any waste, plus assists the body in maintaining an alkaline state.

Bonus Tip: Establish a Regular Meditation Practice

No trip to the grocery store needed for this one. The mind-body connection is undeniable for those who have experienced it first hand. But more and more hard science is now backing up the idea that our mental state has a direct impact on our physical health.

Since stress is a known enemy to good health in basically every way, meditating regularly can greatly calm your mind, and therefore improve your overall wellbeing in huge ways.

Adopt a Healthy Diet for a Healthy Cleanse Without Extremes

With these tips in mind, head to your local farmers market or grocery store and stock up on what you need. Better yet, pick just a couple of these tips to implement at a time. No need to bite off more than you can chew.

When it comes to our health, if it seems to be too good to be true, it probably is. There’s no magic pill or solution for good health, but these few basic superfoods and tips can go a long way.

Small changes over time add up to big results, and good health is something everyone deserves to experience – no expensive plan or extreme diet needed.
