How to Become an Artist of Your Soul and Live from a Place of Possibility

Becoming an artist of your soul means living from the motivations of your soul, rather than your personality or ego. In other words, it is living from the spiritual heart center, rather than the fluctuations of the mind. It’s living in a state of possibility – where you are fully in control – instead of living from a place of probability – where everything is left up to chance.

The more we practice yoga, the closer we get to living from this heart-centered place of awareness, and the more we live from this place of unconditional love, the more beautiful and joyful life is. In addition to our personal sadhana (self-discipline), there are several easy ways you can become a true artist of your soul and live from a place of possibility.

Soul artistry takes discipline and commitment. You must patiently persevere, taking the time to do the inner work of getting to know the nuances of your soul at the deepest level. Only then can you live your life from this place of true, authentic power and awaken your life’s fullest potential.

Here are 3 ways that you can awaken your fullest potential:

1. Stalk Your Thoughts

The more you meditate, the more you’ll realize that you’re not your thoughts and you’re not your mind. In other words, don’t take yourself so seriously! Stalk your thoughts until you find where your limiting beliefs come from. Consider how they affect your life. See how the voice in your head might be making decisions for your soul.

Get quiet enough to tune into this voice.

You’ll see that it probably lives either in the past or the future. Ask questions, like does this voice have fear flowing through it? The soul lives in the present moment where there’s only love. You have the power to choose whether or not to follow a particular train of thought or to instead stay with the heart, in the present moment.

Ask your mind to take your heart’s lead – by coming from a place of love and presence.

2. Love the Challenges

Know that behind every challenge lies freedom and a soul lesson. When you find yourself brushing up against a challenge, say thank you, and know that this is your soul asking you to grow.

Open up and be curious to why this particular situation is challenging for you, and see what comes up.

You might find that you’re holding onto a limiting thought or belief that’s causing you to see this circumstance as a challenge. Be present with what comes up and give it space. This allows you to see it and then choose to shift your perspective. Perhaps the challenge is here to remind you of a past trauma that needs to be seen and healed.

Love your challenges by embracing them. They are showing you what needs to be healed and where you can learn and evolve.

3. Dialogue with Your Heart

Your heart knows the way, and the more you dialogue with it, the more you ask it questions, and make its voice known, the more you cultivate this artistry of the soul.

Take some time every day – even if just for a few minutes – to converse with your heart. If you have a problem, give your heart a few scenarios or outcomes to consider. If you feel confused, ask your heart what it thinks. Your heart and soul are deeply connected, and pretty soon the way you move about in the world and relate to others will come from this very intelligent, connected, and unconditionally loving place.

“When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.” – Rumi

As Rumi so wisely put it, “when you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.” Let us all live like this fluid and free-flowing river. Let us all become artists of our souls – the artists we were always meant to be. Find your personal power and your life will have infinite possibility.
