Louise L. Hay – a name that conjures feelings of hope, inspiration, and knowledge for many in the spiritual and wellness world. I first found her when I came across her book You Can Heal Your Life. In it, her profound yet simple and relatable wisdom opened my eyes to a new way of viewing my life and my ability to create the reality I seek.
My story is a story that many, many people around the world share – a story of being inspired and to some degree, enlightened by the teachings of Louise Hay. One of the things I still love most about You Can Heal Your Life is that it was published in the mid-1980’s, making Hay a true pioneer in the mainstream spiritual community. More than 50 million copies have been sold worldwide.
Who Was Louise Hay?
Louise Lynn Hay has been called the founder of self-help. She published her first book on the topic in 1976 called Heal Your Body. From this point on, she rallied to spread awareness about the inextricable and powerful connection of mind and body.
Her first book – and all of her books that followed – all teach simple healing techniques and positive philosophy. Ironically enough, she was diagnosed with cancer, and facing the typical question of chemotherapy, she opted to use affirmations, visualizations, cleansing and other techniques to heal herself. Six months later, her cancer was gone.
The Incredible Impact Louise Hay Had On the World
In addition to her self-help books, Louise Hay became a renowned motivational speaker, traveling around the U.S. to speak at colleges and conferences. She was involved in many influential movements, and created a support group for people with AIDS in 1988 that grew to almost 1,000 weekly attendees.
Hay made the New York Times Bestsellers list, appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, and she even made a movie about her life and book called You Can Heal Your Life – The Movie.
She also founded Hay House Inc., a publishing house centered on self-help books (with renowned authors like Dr. Wayne Dyer and Doreen Virtue). It has been confirmed that Hay House will honor her legacy by continuing to publish content and offerings that align with her teachings.
Honoring This Incredible Soul
Louise Hay has been called “the closest thing to a living saint” and is a founder of the self-help movement. Her teachings have positively impacted millions, and her wisdom lives on through her words, her books, and Hay House.
“In the infinity of life where I am, all is perfect, whole, and complete.” – Louise Hay
Louise Hay reignited hope and empowered the lives of many. She brought true light and wisdom into this world, and the world is a better place for it.
Her legacy will indeed live on, and we too can continue to carry the flame that her teachings ignited. We can lead by example in our own ability to heal our lives, spread positivity, and embrace others with compassion and light.
