10 Yoga Poses to Awaken Your Inner Goddess and Harness Your Feminine Energy

This article is for you, goddess! As women, we are fierce, we are radiant, and we are goddesses!! Our yoga practice is empowering. We can use it as a celebration of our feminine energy and to awaken the goddess within each of us.

But first, what does feminine energy mean – what is it, and what are its qualities?

We all possess both masculine and feminine energy – think of these energies as the balance between yin and yang. This is the balance that connects us all. While masculine energy is dictated by the sun and strength, feminine is guided by the moon with nurturing qualities.

To honor the feminine energy within, we must tap into our grace, poise, resilience, sexuality and compassion. To awaken the goddess within, we must harness our power, strength, and drive.

As the goddesses that we are, we need to love ourselves first and foremost.

So ladies – when you want to celebrate your feminine energy and invoke that inner goddess, step onto your mat! The following photo tutorial of yoga poses particularly empower and inspire our femininity, and they will make you feel amazing.

Stay here for 5-10 breaths, and then switch sides.

2. Wild Thing

Drinking Bird Pose is all about balance and empowerment. This pose embodies the element of air and helps us remain fluid yet grounded amidst life’s challenges.

Stay here for 5 deep breaths.

5. Toe Stand

Embracing our feminine energy is all about feeling sexy, confident, and powerful in our bodies. Toe Stand is a sexy pose that’s also a serious strength and balance challenge. It’s a grounding pose that activates the Root Chakra and its inherent sexual qualities.

Stay here for 5 breaths, seeing if you can bring your hands to rest on your knees or at heart center for an extra balance challenge.

6. Half Pigeon

half pidgeon

Half Pigeon is a deep hip opener that creates space in the hip joint. The hip joint is where we (especially women) tend to store trauma and latent emotion. Practicing this pose helps us release what no longer serves us. It also feels amazing post-sex.

Stay for 5 breaths up to a full minute, and then switch sides.

7. Mermaid Pose

What woman doesn’t want to be a mermaid?! Mermaid Pose evokes that playful element we all had as kids that can often get muted as we get older and gain more responsibility. Get back to your playful side and express your femininity in this beautiful pose.

Mermaid is a deep hip opener and also activates the Heart Chakra – our center for love, self-love and relationships.

Come into this pose from your Half Pigeon (#6). The secret ingredient is flexed, active feet. Stay for 5 breaths, then switch sides.

8. Fish Pose

Fish Pose is ideal for flushing out your thyroid gland. The thyroid helps to keep hormones balanced, which is key for sexual and feminine energy to flourish. Also a great chest opener, this restorative yoga pose is all about self-love and nurturing – something every woman needs!

Stay here for 5-10 deep breaths up to a full minute, or remain here as long as you wish.

9. Hero’s Pose

Bring a juicy stretch to the hip flexors as you open the entire front side of the body with Hero’s Pose. For a gentler version, stay seated upright and bring your seat down between your heels with your knees spread hip-distance apart.

heros reclined

For a more intense version, lie all the way onto your back and clasp opposite elbows. This is another restorative pose that’s great for releasing negative emotions and physical tension in the body.

Stay here for 5-10 deep breaths, then come out slowly. If you took the reclined version, press into seated and then plant the palms in front of you to protect your knees as you come out.

10. Apanasana

apanasana

End your practice with a nourishing great big hug, otherwise known as Apanasana or Energy Freeing Pose. As the goddesses that we are, we need to love ourselves first and foremost, and celebrate the feminine energy that makes us shine.

This pose is all about showing yourself some love, and it’s the perfect way to end your goddess yoga practice. Stay here as long as you’d like, and try gently rocking side to side to massage the pressure points around your spine (it feels amazing and creates a deeper release).

There You Have It, Goddess!

Our yoga practice is such a potent way to connect to our inner power, strength, sense of self . . . and of course our feminine energy!
