Which Type of Yoga Should You Practice? Take This Yoga Quiz to Find Out

Yoga has made quite a name for itself in the Western world. But with a seemingly endless amount of disciplines and class types to choose from, how can you be sure which one is right for you? Enters the chat: our yoga quiz.

Perhaps you enjoy upbeat tunes with your yoga flow, or a little sweat with your stretch. Maybe you love to try new things and constantly be challenged. Or maybe you love structure and consistency so you know what to expect each time you step onto the mat.

If you’re not aware of how your personality fits into yoga, you might end up feeling bored and restless.

You actually have a choice as an adult. And with so many (yoga) personalities out there, it’s no wonder yoga studios continue to offer more and more variety in the types of classes they offer.

In this article, we will introduce you to some (of the many) yoga styles available, and then share a quick yoga quiz to determine the best style of yoga for you, based on your unique attributes.

Let’s Look at the Yoga Styles

Below are six mainstream styles of yoga that this yoga quiz encompasses.

For a gentle introduction or passive approach to open you up and stretch you out through physical postures, there’s Yin Yoga, Gentle Hatha, and Restorative – all of which hold poses and stretches for extended periods of time.

For a more physical flow that connects breath to movement through a set series of asanas, there’s Ashtanga Yoga.

Vinyasa Flow also connects breath to movement, incorporating a more creative sequence, and Power Yoga takes it to the next level, flowing fiercely through poses to build internal heat and strength.

For a dynamic blend of spiritual and physical, there’s Kundalini Yoga, which incorporates movement, dynamic breathing techniques, meditation and chanting.

Bikram Yoga is characterized by a set series of postures and breathing exercises, performed in a room heated up to 105 degrees.

AcroYoga is a dynamic partner practice that combines yoga and acrobatics, and would be great for anyone looking to boost their creative spirit by connecting with another individual.

Yoga is likely new to you. You may also be looking for a gentle way to stay active or stretch out as a means for alleviating injury-related issues, balancing mental instabilities, or are looking to ease your way back into it after a life event like childbirth.

You might enjoy a basic, peaceful and passive practice, so we recommend you try Yin Yoga, Gentle Hatha or Restorative Yoga.

If you got mostly B’s:

If you got mostly C’s:

You have a firm grasp on the practice of yoga, and are looking to deepen your practice spiritually and physically to reflect your overall lifestyle.
