Meet Jenn Pansa: YA Classes Teacher Highlight Series (Interview)
Every month in our YA Classes Teacher Highlight Series, we interview one of our YA Classes teachers. This month’s teacher highlight is with the wonderful Jenn Pansa.
Like many, Jenn Pansa discovered yoga in an effort to find relief. A painful case of tendonitis eventually led her to realize that her breath and inner strength created by each pose was a powerful tool for recovery.
Growing up in Colorado, she always felt drawn to the simplicity and healing elements of nature. It’s no surprise that her deep connection with it would play a key role in her path. During a particularly painful experience with dry sockets post wisdom-teeth-removal, she discovered the incredible pain-relieving benefits of essential oils.
It’s history from there! She’s been featured on the cover of Yoga Journal, serves as a Diamond Leader with doTERRA, writes for health and wellness publications, and has led countless yoga classes, including one on Richard Branson’s private island.
Jenn is best known for her inspiring teachings and loves to incorporate the earth elements, as she did in her six-class Earth Elements Yoga program for YA Classes. She has several other online yoga classes for YA Classes members.

2. YA: What’s your go-to song or music genre when you teach (or practice)?
Jenn: I love to play Thievery Corp or Buddha Bar on Pandora, and Anugama Station for the beginning or end of class.
3. YA: What’s your favorite yoga discipline to practice? To teach?
Jenn: I love Vinyasa because it gives me the creative license to read the room and incorporate practices from many traditions that I have learned over the years.
4. YA: What’s your favorite yoga pose? Least favorite?
Jenn: My favorite pose is always Savasana! OF COURSE! Poses working towards Supta Kurmasana (a deep Ashtanga hip opener) are such a challenge for me.
5. YA: When you found yoga, was it love at first asana?
Jenn: Pretty much! I am pretty intense when I do things, so when I found yoga as I was healing an injury, I noticed immediate results in my body and my energy. That was all the evidence I needed to create a lifelong daily practice.
6. YA: What’s your most embarrassing moment, either teaching or in life?
Jenn: Oh my gosh, there are so many, it is hard to pick! Trying new things and embarrassing yourself is a great way to grow.
I think one of the most embarrassing was when I was demonstrating a handstand and for some reason, I lost balance and just smashed my face into the floor instead of cartwheeling out like I usually do! I was okay, but everyone was concerned about my face hahaha.
7. YA: What’s your #1 piece of advice for yoga students?
Jenn: Number one piece of advice is that yoga (living in union) and mindfulness is not just for one hour of the day, but rather a lifestyle.
If you can take the Eight Limbs of Ashtanga Yoga and the Yoga Sutras and truly LIVE them, that is practicing yoga. Watch what you think, feel, say, and do. Make that the daily meditation. You are your most excellent teacher.
8. YA: What’s your favorite resource for inspiration (teacher, podcast, book, IG account, etc)?
Jenn: I love my friends at @inflexibleyogis! They do such a great job of educating and giving practical tips.
