Namasdrake, A Completely Drake-Themed Yoga Class Is A Real Thing

Just hold on, we are going OM. If you like Drake – aka one of the most popular rap artists on the radio – and even find yourself adding him to your yoga playlist, then you just found your new favorite yoga class.
“Namasdrake” is a legit yoga class – and an extremely popular one at that – in Los Angeles, California.
DJ Paul Schneider was studying the chakras during his yoga teacher training program when the idea for Namasdrake was born. When he was studying the sixth chakra, Schneider was also listening to Drake’s album titled, “Views from the 6th.” Finding this to be a funny synchronically, he came up with the unique idea for a Drake-themed yoga class.
“It’s a very serious yoga class; it’s not an easy class. I’m cuing postures that are cued in very advanced classes … In no way do I take yoga lightly, and in no way do I take hip-hop lightly either.” – Paul Schneider
Drake may not know it, but his music vibes well in a yoga room. According to Scheinder, Drake’s songs have a great mixture of tempo for a well-rounded vinyasa class and many of his songs can sync well with breathwork.
Schneider, inspired by listening to Drake’s music during his own yoga practice, knew this combination would work well. He also knew it would be a great opportunity to bring people together for a fun yoga class and to grow the yoga community.
The class meets monthly in a bar in L.A. and is taught by Schneider. He is clear he takes both his hip-hop and his yoga very seriously but does enjoy being on the cusp of silliness with the class theme. Don’t think this class is all giggles though. Schneider teaches a challenging class that invites his students to focus on their breath and try different variations of yoga poses.
And if your mind is racing with more artists Scheider could flow to in his classes, no worries. He is now offering a NamasYe class to the tunes of Kanye in efforts to keep his classes feeling more like a party and less like exercise.
How would you like to flow to the tunes of Drizzy Drake or Kanye? We want to hear from you! Let us know your feedback in the comments below.
